Review: Concept = great. Execution = lackluster. The HP Ipaq 6315, fr those of you who don’t know what about it, is a brand new(ish) “smartphone” built exclusively for T-mobile. Think PocketPC, Phone, Camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular internet all in one. Fan-effin-tastic! And I love it. When it works. Unfortunately that isn’t very consistently. The Ipaq locks up on almost a daily basis, and not just requiring a reboot. We’re talking battery removal, to cut all power to the phone. That, in itself isn’t such a big deal - you know, something you dislike but can live with. The icing on the cake, however, is the fact that when you remove the battery the game is over. Voila - you just lost ALL your info and performed a soft reset. Did you remember to make a backup this morning? I sure hope so. Supposedly with the new version of Windows Mobile, this is fixed but that doesn’t help me much. Anyone want to buy a 6315? I’ll comment on T-mobile’s wonderful coverage area another time…
