The bikeads.org deal didn’t work so well, So a while back, I switched the site to something a bit more in line with my own interests - Land Rovers. I’ve had some different and eclectic Rovers (by American standards anyway) and that’s something I really want to get another one of soon.
So, In the mean time I started working on a site to help people sell their Land Rovers. Sure, there are some other sites out there, but the features available on mine I think will start to make a difference. There’s things like email notification for new ads, being able to link to just your ad, or all ads you have listed, RSS feeds, and more.

It took me forever to find the link to do it, but here it is:
https://www.google.com/accounts/DeleteService?service=hist
This link will produce an error if you don’t already have Google personalized search enabled. But if you do, and are logged in to your google account, it should let you remove it. Worked for me, but ymmv.

Whenever we (theoretically, of course) find an unencrypted WiFi network around one of our projects, Greg has taken to calling it FreeFi. And, he sent me this interesting link about someone getting busted for using it, although, it sounds like it’s in the other extreme, above leeching onto a neighbor’s.

Lately I’ve been listening to Pandora quite a bit, and I really like it. One thing that bugged me, was that I had to have a separate window open for it, where things like Musicmatch, Winamp, iTunes, etc would minimize to the system tray so it’s just an icon not taking up any toolbar space.
Today, I found something (free!) that solves that issue. It’s simple and unglorified, which is the best thing about it. Download it from here: Metcasoft
There are 2 versions. Classic and 1.5. Either works just as well. One little gotcha though - how does one actually minimize it? Well, you have to righ click the icon in the tray and then select either “hide” or “show” player. It took me a bit to figure that out, because many “hide-to-tray” programs automatically do so when you minimize or click to close.
Thanks, Brian @ Metcasoft for making this!

Really, do we need a warning to say “It’s going to be a nice day today. So nice, in fact, that it will be unseasonably nice.” I especially like the part where they say “Don’t swim in the water because it might be a bit cold.” That might be a bit difficult to tell when you put your foot in, so I’m super glad they mentioned it for me.
Like people don’t know how to survive August in Portland, and by the time May comes around we forget all about it?

Weird dreams, stress, and quality of life
I have had some weird dreams lately. The kinds that are not late-night-pizza induced. Keener, you’ll have to ask me in person about it ’cause I’m not posting it here. But the other one last night was me freaking out about going bald. I had a bald spot in the back of my head (monk style) about 5 inches big. There were images flashing through my head about some serious comb-overs with long, whispy strands. Then I shaved my head. And I’m not even balding yet… hope it’s not a vision.
Stress level lately is all over the place. One day it’s great, next I’m sweating like a pig. I start thinking about how everything’s selling or getting close to that point which sounds wonderful. I’m almost counting the cash already. Then, I’m bying more to increase my monthly expenditures and having to try and find something to work on next which has proven difficult. No project = lost potential. And of course, there’s the snags that we run into with every single thing because nothing goes quite according to plan. Roll with the punches, and git-er-done. Sounds so easy… The next day, I look back and count my debt load. Sure, I’ve sold stuff but I’ve still got over (best Mr. Evil voice) one miiiilion doooolars worth of debt. Sure, there’s corresponding assets but the debt still gets to you.
Oh, the quality of life. I am all about not doing things I don’t have to. Find someone, something, or whatever to do the stuff you hate, don’t have time for, or isn’t productive for you. For those who haven’t tried it - do! I spend about $250 a month having my yard mowed, dog crap picked up and my house cleaned. Not only is my saved time worth more to me than that, the ability to relax and not deal with mundane tasks I hate makes me much more relaxed. (When I’m not thinking about the stress, that is.) I am really starting to think more about what I need to live, and not spending money on small little things that provide no long term enjoyment, have to be packed and moved around with me, and are just a waste of dough. No knick-knacks is my current goal - only useful or otherwise valued posessions. One set of plates. One set of silverware. One motorcycle. One car. etc…
