Well, I finally figured out the cause of the water problem at the house. The neighbor’s apartment building gutter was clogged and overflowing. So all the water from their roof flowed down the hill into my backyard, right toward the basement window.
I was wondering why there was SO much water compared to previously. There never was anything near this quantity ever before, and now again since Noel (Our new worker-dude) climbed up and cleaned them out. We also did some serious improvement to the french-drain so things flow really nice so if it ever happens again, it should be no biggie.
I am quite relieved, to say the least. Now I just have to get it sold and some cash in hand!
I haven’t seen this flick in a long while, but it’s airing on TBS right now. Much better than the State of the Union that was on earlier.
No, I’m not yet another Bush-Hater like the rest of P-town. Just look at my blog - It’s Blue Collar Republican, baby! Okay, maybe that’s not it either but if I cause enough controversy will I become the next Howard Stearn or Lars Larsen?
Seriously, I hated the State of the Union. It sucks with any President. “The union is doing well.” Launched this “initiative” and want to start that “comittee” for somethingarother. Blah!
Okay, some of it’s probably worth doing, but when I look at how incredibly inefficient our country/government is, I can’t in my right mind be excited about any new comittee or initiative. First, start by timing the traffic lights more efficiently and then we’ll talk. Seriously, PDX traffic control needs some major help in the efficiency department. I’d be happy to VOLUNTEER my time as a City Efficiency Auditor as long as something actually gets done and fixed!
Here in P-town, we have some pretty good tap water, even better when it’s filtered through something (I like to use my fridge) and I usually don’t even care too much for the bottled waters; Evian, Dasani, etc. Especially the ones that have added sodium.
The other day I discovered Fiji Water. Check them out here: fijiwater.com.
This is some seriously good water! It feels kind of weird describing water as “good” because isn’t it all kind of the same - no flavor? Yeah, I guess so. Point being, this has the most pure tasting no flavor I’ve come across. Maybe it’s the soothing label or their tag line “Untouched by man. Until you drink it.” but in any case it’s good. Better be for the extra cost too. It’s probably cheaper to ship water from France or something.

Okay, it’s not just limited to Americans but since this is where I live, those are the people I see around me.
Lately it seems just about every time I’m out somewhere - especially at a food/drink establishment - I hear people having very little manners. It seems people just demand things, without having much thought on how their wording comes across. Here’s an example:
Taco Del Mar off Otty Rd & 82nd Ave. - Jan 17/05 about 5pm:
Server: Hi, welcome to Taco Del Mar. How can I help you?
RudeDude: Give me a super burrito. Extra meat.
Most of the time I hear phrases similar to the above. Bring me this. Let’s have some of that. I want those. Etc.
What happened to nice things such as “please” or “may I” or “can I” or even “I would like” instead of demands?
Yeah, I’ll go hide under my rock now because someone is probably blogging about how rude drivers are. And I’m guilty of that but only VERY seldom…
I would really love it if someone could send me an invitation code for Google Analytics.
They’re using the Urchin engine, which does about the best job out there. I’ve used Urchin for years and it absolutely rocks! But, it’s a bit spendy…
Well, my aspirations for travel blogging my entire trip kind of met an abrupt end. After waking up on New Year’s Day, both Vio and I got a case of dysentery (or salmonella - the symptoms are pretty much the same) that pretty much ended the trip as far as we were concerned. So, alas, motivation and the ability to leave the hotel room was something that escaped us for the remainder of the trip.
Oh, well. As with everything in life there is something to be learned in the experience. My personal lesson: Don’t eat sushi in a 3rd world country no matter how nice the hotel is. Yeah, dumb of me for sure! I honestly don’t know what I was thinking - or more likely I wasn’t thinking at all.
