So I had this weird, random thought after watching this CNN video clip.
In the clip, they mention that the Atlantic Ocean water temp was recorded at 83 degrees, which helps fuel the hurricane and the whole pressure difference. First off, these people are nuts to fly through it, but whatever. Someone’s got to do it. Thanks for taking one for the team.
So my thought was, what if they bombed the water around the hurricane with say like 10 tons of dry ice? Negative 100 degrees F, so that might counteract the water temp some. Weird, yes but has anyone tried it?

Interesting idea. I’ve seen people try to cool their swimming pools here in Arizona using dry ice with no luck. Granted, it was a pretty small amount compared to 10 tons, but the volume and depth of the water would probably keep it from making a difference in the surface water, which is where the hurricane gets it’s power from. A side effect to dumping dry ice into water is that it would throw the chemistry off in the immediate area of the dump until all of the CO2 had escaped. That could cause alot of dead animals. People have discussed using dry ice as a method of putting out forest fires as well…the side effects of that would also outweigh the benefits.
